What is the social/environmental problem/issue that this project will address?
The Building of the new Pavillion at the top end of the Park will offer facilities not seen since 1997, we are a Grade 2 listed Park, and work very closely with the Planners, environmentalist groups to integrate any new structure into this wonderful old Park.
Can you give us some statistics on this problem?
Back in 1997 when the old Pavillion was still in use, the Park was in decline, visitor numbers were low, the vegetation was overgrown, and a very unsafe place to be. Then the Friends were formed, and steadily the Park was brought back to life, visitor numbers increased, and now we see some days, Gala day, Heritage day and Culture day where visitor numbers are in the 1000s
What is your solution?
Should we raise the funds to build the new Pavillion at the top end of the Park, which is a flat and accessible entrance, it would allow children, the disabled, and the able bodied a place to meet, relax, and have access to state of the art toilet facilities, we have needed this Pavillion ever since the old one was pulled down.
How will you deliver this?
If we reach our first milestone, we would invest this money, in the finding of water and drains, the clearing of the area needed for the foundations. Further fundraising events would follow, giving us more money to keep the momentum going. All the Friends are volunteers and money raised goes straight to the project, we have a good track record in delivering big projects, this is the biggest to date, and would have the most lasting legacy for future generations.
