More about the project

What is the social/environmental problem/issue that this project will address?
Park Road Infant School (Kettering) currently has nowhere green within the school for the infants to play or learn in. And there is also a general lack of play ground space too. Presently Rockingham Road Pleasure Park (RRPP), a well used Victorian park next door to the school, has new equipment that caters for older children, disabled, and fitness enthusiasts but nowhere that specifically caters for our younger children. The park also has a bowling green, bandstand, mini golf and a dog walking section. Other park attractions can be found on www.forrpp.org.uk
Can you give us some statistics on this problem?
227 infant students. RRPP is in All Saints Ward The park in good weather has hundreds of users per day and is the town’s main destination park and is extremely popular with families.
What is your solution?
We want to create an outdoor learning & play space in RRPP for the school next door. We are using recycled materials like the trunk from a sick Beech tree within the Park and leftover granite blocks from the town's recent redevelopment to create the imaginative play space. The children are designing the play zone, to include some form of chainsaw carving. The Park’s Bandstand refurbishment will also feature in this project. Any excess monies raised will be going towards extra play kit for the infants and towards extra free weekend concerts in the Bandstand over the summer. We are also adding accessible footpaths and have a donor already agreed for this sponsorship.
How will you deliver this?
With matched funding from the Community First Panel and donations from Park Infant School, Kettering Borough Council and FORRPP.

The Meagher Family 25 May 2014 - 19:05

The total so far raised is £9055 (£4105 online & £4950 offline) with just 2 days of fundraising left to raise the total target of £16,700.

The current target to achieve is “£4,800” for natural “Outdoor Class Seating” only three more left milestones to beat!

Please help the CrowdFunding drive to install a brand new “infant’s playground & outdoor education area” within Rockingham Road Pleasure Park.

You can pay as little or as much as you want to. Or help by spreading the word; please tell all of your friends, family and network too.

The Meagher Family 24 April 2014 - 10:57

As of the 24th April, with 33 days to go, the actual amount raised is £8995 because there have been payments made to FORRPP by organisations (including FORRPP) that have no debit or credit cards...

1. £1000 from Park Road Infant School Kettering
2. £250 from FORRPP
3. £2500 from All Saints Community First Panel (2013/14 budget)
4. £2500 from Kettering Borough Council
5. £2500 from All Saints Community First Panel (2014/15 budget)
6. £245 paid in at BuzzBnk already
