More about the project

What is the social/environmental problem/issue that this project will address?

Migrant population, not knowing neighbours, lack of vision about streets/spaces, need for fun/celebrations

Can you give us some statistics on this problem?

2011 Census Valentines Ward is 4th most deprived in Redbridge, 50.3% born outside UK, 85.8% BME residents

What is your solution?

Provide opportunties for neighbours to get together, build community cohesion through participating in arts and having fun together

How will you deliver this?

Run a high participation, low cost, enjoyable community event using resources and talents we have in the area

Get involved

Here are some great ways to get involved with the project and help out. If you have...
  • 5 minutes
Think of someone who would be interested in what we are doing and pass on the crowdfunding request with a personal note.
  • 15 minutes
    Write a blog about us?
  • 30 minutes
Have a look for suitable sponsors or people that have responded to crowdfunding requests previously and tell them about us.
  • A few hours
Bake a cake and bring it over to the street sale on 5th or the arts festival on the 12th to sell to raise money for outstanding amounts or put into kitty for the next Redbridge Green Fair event. Join the meetings, pick up jobs.
  • Regular time commitment
Join the Redbridge Green Fair committee! Or join the list of people interested in helping the Redbridge Green Fair. Help us develop an independent residents group to run events on the estate in the future.

About the organisation

Vision and mission

The Redbridge Green fair mission is to raise awareness on environmental and social issues through the arts and community participation. In this project we are partnering with residents in the area in which many of the committee live to organise a low carbon event where most skills and input comes from the Commonwealth estate.

Our track record

We have run 12 large scale green fairs since 1991 (the borough's biggest cross community festival/green event), the Midsummer music fest annually since 2005 and the twice monthly music club, in partnership with Redbridge Music Lounge, for last 5 years.
