More about the project

What is the social/environmental problem/issue that this project will address?
Goré is home to 24,000 refugees. Many are women who have no means of supporting their families. Producing shea butter allows them provide for their families.
Can you give us some statistics on this problem?
24,000 refugees, £250/year average income in the community.
What is your solution?
Sahara Botanicals will provide sustainable jobs to refugee and local women. This will allow them to support their families in a culturally-appropriate way.
How will you deliver this?
We will conduct trainings with the women in Goré who are producing shea butter to teach them good practices and improve the quality of the shea butter they are producing. We will then help them export the butter and find a buyer, like a cosmetics company.
